Aquilandia 2022 in Santa Caterina and S’archittu

With the magical dance of many and colorful kites in a variety of shapes around the Natural Arch of the municipality of Cuglieri, the evocative experience of Aquilandia 2022, a playful cultural activity organized by the CCN of Cuglieri, came to an end.

This year, in fact, the brilliant president Andrea Ponte and the board of the CCN, an association that brings together local entrepreneurs, decided to accompany the last period of the 2022 tourist season by offering to the precious September guests and the population present in the resorts, an unusual ludic-cultural activity entitled “Aquilandia 2022″, realized thanks to the agreement with two flight engineers Ludovico and Jane. This was a unique opportunity to introduce Cuglieri and the many activities of the Natural Commercial Center present in the seaside villages of S’archittu, Santa Caterina and Torre del Pozzo.

The activity basically developed over two days, during which the two flight experts from the Ottimo Cielo company, wore the robes of professors in the morning inside the classrooms of the Istituto Comprensivo di Cuglieri (Cuglieri Comprehensive Institute), explaining to children and young people the history of kites as well as the various construction techniques that have followed one another over the centuries up to the present day.

During the afternoon of the first day then, having taken off their academic robes, the two acrobats of flight began the technical rehearsals in the enchanting bay of Santa Caterina, around the Saracen tower, with explosion in flight of numerous and colorful small kites created by the imagination of the children.

Above the small creations then took flight the fantastic creatures of a thousand shapes born from the skilful hands of the experts. In the afternoon of the second day it was S’Archittu’s turn to host the event.

Among the various flying creatures appeared for the first time two banners, pulled up by a powerful kite, containing the name of the hamlets, which thus remained sealed on the two localities and taken up by the lenses of expert and non-expert photographers. There was also a brief but intense experience of pulling a kite by boat, an experience that entered the Guinness Book of Records in the history of kites thanks to the collaboration of expert navigator Paolo Manca and the courageous Bastianino.

Photographers Franco Spanedda and Salvatore Curcu did an excellent job capturing the most striking images. In light of the excellent result obtained we thank for the valuable collaboration the Headmistress of the Istituto Comprensivo Prof. Patrizia Atzori and the teaching and non-teaching staff, the Mayor and the whole administration and the various collaborators who left out their activities to contribute to the success of the event.
